A poem for my mom- a lover of birds and koi

You dream of an open sky, though I see lively waters.
A still pond that's been turned alive by royalty's scaled daughters.

Golden freckles lay upon an orange both ripe and true.
With slender whiskers and flowing fins, I'd dance the pond for you.

So when your frantic, feathered wings have tired from the day
Settle on a branch nearby, and soak up an aqua ballet.
